The team Fighting Balloons from the Virata School of Business was proclaimed champion in the global finals of the 2021 IMA Student Case Competition held last July 10, 2021. The team is composed of 5 BSBA and BSBAA students: Nicole Chelsey Pua, Clarizze Faye Mondoy, Von Salosagcol, Isaiah Inocencio, and Jamila Domingo.
Last May, the team beat competitors from Thailand and Singapore in the regional finals to earn the right to represent the Asia Pacific region in the global finals. In the final phase of the competition, the Fighting Balloons emerged victorious over teams from India and Romania, after impressing the judges the most with the presentation and defense of their solution on a management accounting case about a hypothetical Indian textile wholesaler, Star Textiles.
As part of the prize, the winners get a full scholarship to take the CMA examination, which is administered by the IMA organization. The team was mentored by Prof. Mike Magana of the Department of Accounting and Finance. Congratulations to the team and their mentor!
